We haven't been to this place in years. But with strong dim sum cravings during pandemic lockdown it was one of the first to re-open for takeout. Quality is good for standard dim sum fare and prices quite reasonable (especially after current 20% discount for takeout). Recommend picking up early. We order at 9am and pick up is ready in 20 mins with the restaurant fairly quiet at that time. The lead time is way longer during lunch hour and the parking lot gets congested.
Really liked the serving sizes, wish they had hotter hot sauces though. The mango pudding was refreshing!
Very good authentic Hong Kong style dim sum. I highly recommend this restaurant. The Tsui Mai and Ha Gao were huge! Kung hei fat choy!
Fantastic food for the price, love this place!
Can be quite crowded with tables all packed in however, the food is delicious and the service is good. People are constantly available on the floor for taking orders and asking questions, the menu is large with most of the things I have tried being very tasty.
They're doing take out dum sum promotions during covid. A spacious parking lot to maintain distancing. A good choice when craving for dim sum to enjoy!
Fast service, good food, reasonable prices. Bustling and busy on the weekends so get there early
For dim sum only, haven't gone here for dinner yet. Excellent choices on their dim sum menu. XO Sauce Pan Fried Radish Cake and Deep Fried Spring Rolls are must haves. 2 stars off for their parking - a quarter of the lot is like a junkyard...seriously?
We went on a fri at 5, no1 there. Within 20min the restraunt was packed. Excellent food, quick service, authentic, pictures help lol I would not hesitate to go again and we will....
Service was good. The food was too pricey. Fried rice with shrimp was good. The other dishes were little bit salty.
My family comes here often, we like the food and the staff. The food comes out very quickly and the staff are quick to remove empty dishes, full up tea, etc. Would definitely recommend you try dim sum from here at least once. It's not a high end restaurant but the quality/price ratio is fair. Will be returning.
I made a reservation for 6 people for the following day. It was confirmed so when I arrived, it was like all the wait staff were running around with no direction. Where was the floor manager? Do they even have one? I kept trying to speak with a different staff member that I had a reso and they just kept saying yes, we know and were doing nothing about it. You’d think they’d have a system in place to ensure that reservation guests had a table, nope. I looked around, 3 tables were empty. A half hour later, I asked a staff member, can we sit at that empty table? The response was no, we have a group of 13 coming at 11am. Poorly managed, brutal service (non-existent) so we walked out and found a different restaurant to dine at. I’ll never go back.
Quick service, staff are efficient, and most of all delicious foods!
One of our Go to dim sum seafood restaurants! The food is on point and they open at 9:00 am earlier then some other dim sum joints. Overall if your in Burnaby and wanna have a great experience and get a taste of some authentic cuisine you should definitely check them out. Haven’t yet been disappointed. 👌🏼
I came today for dim sum the first time try Happy Valley for the first time with my family. We came at 10am and there was plenty of parking in their lot. It's not too busy at 10am. No carts here so order on checklist. We ordered 2 bbq pork buns in two ways. We love bbq pork. But we were quite turned off by the amount of fat pieces, not too much meat. We had to pull out the fat before eating it. I didn't dare take a photo of my plate of fat to post. We also ordered rice roll bbq and found more fat in it. If we come back we won't order anything with bbq.The only saving grace was the sticky rice wrap, shrimp and scallops dumpling and deep fried Chinese donut with rice roll.Service was good. Servers were polite and chatty.I would come back but won't order dishes with hidden bbq pork.Nice they take credit card.
Convenient location, ample parking, friendly service, comfortable seating, well kept washrooms, good food, reasonable prices
The service, compared to other Chinese restaurants that I've been to, was great and friendly. The waitress was very helpful in recommending dished and cleaning up dishes as we ate. The food was delicious and they served the dishes really quickly. This was our first time coming here and I liked the seating (roomy, tables are well spaced from one another, comfortable), the parking at the front of the restaurant, and the clean washrooms. My family and I had a great dinner experience and we would definitely come back.
yummy and resonable with 10% off for lunch
I was told of this place from a dim sum loving friend. Who's been going here for many many years. And boy, was he right. The food was absolutely exactly what you'd expect: delicious! Everything came out at a very good pace and the staff were very quick on any request. Will for sure be back as the price is too good not to. Very busy from about 11am until 1pm, even on a Friday working day!
The food is alright, but don't go here. I found broken ceramic in my deep fried halibut. I didn't notice until I had it in a to go box and was reheating it. I don't know if it was because I went alone or as a young white guy, but the service was nonexistent. I couldn't even get a glass of water. They did offer me a fork which was nice if not racist. The restaurant decoration is also nonexistent.
As always, the food is amazing ,very authentic Cantonese cuisine. Both dim sum and dinner menus are reasonably priced with good portion. The servers were very attentive and helpful. Their tropical pudding dessert is simply the best :) Perfect place for family and friends gathering.很正宗的港式餐厅,用餐体验很好。 非常推荐。
I usually have tea and dim sum in this place in the early morning when they have discount. Dim sum are quite good, service also good. However the place is quite busy, the small tables are usually occupied before 10:30am, leaving only larger tables empty for 8 - 12 people. With discount, price is quite cheap. I certainly go back if I want dim sum again.
I tried this place already with a friend and I am obsessed ever since. I liked the awesome character and flavorful dishes and beverages. They never disappoint.
Our go-to as residents of Brentwood. Decent Cantonese seafood restaurant that's pretty generous with servings size. They are very busy for dimsum, so you should either make reservations or come early. Dinner menu is on par with most establishes seafood houses.Note: 10% tip seem to be "mandatory" here.
Overall not bad, the steamed prawn dumpling shell is not up to standard. The deep fried dumpling was cold...and not big enough. In conclusion is not bad worth the eat.
Good food, good service. Parking lot is small. Best to get there early
Nice little restaurant for dim sum and dinner. Although it's not one of the high-end Chinese restaurants, food is pretty good here. Definitely worth to give this place a try.
Overall a rather disappointing experience. Food: The Har Gao: wrapper was fine, shrimp did not taste fresh; The Chinese Donut Rice Rolls: wrapper was fine, dough had a strange taste and the texture was off; fried fish: mostly fried dough, not much fish. Environment: the restaurant could use some renovation. The chair cover on our seat was dirty. The bowl had cracks at the bottom and didn’t sit flat. The good thing is, they’re probably not too busy, so it can be a good place to enjoy a less crowded dim sum experience.
Very good food! Went there for lunch. Large servings, reasonable pricing.
It was Ok. Portions were decent size, not huge. Flavors were what you would expect for all the standards and the shrimp in the dishes was obvious. Texture of the beef balls seemed a bit off though.
This is one of the go to restaurants for my family. It's safe to say that we are treated like family here.
Food was good. First time here in a whilePopped in with family for dim sum. Good place but some parking issues.
This place has gone downhill. I recently ordered a chicken fried noodle. A pretty standard dish at any Canto restaurant. It usually comes with chicken and a seasonal veggie in clear gravy poured over the crispy fried egg noodles. For $17(taxes in), I was served a dish with ZERO chicken or vegetables. It was literally MSG flavoured cornstarch gravy ontop fried noodles. The cornstarch had micro particles of chicken meat, like the owners thought they could pull a fast one on a CBC customer who wouldn't know the difference between an authentic dish and a profit maximizing one. If I hadn't been stuck for time, I would have driven a little further to another restaurant that serves the same dish for the average price range of $12-15. Feeling extremely ripped off.
Friendly staff and good food.
Great food, good portions, reasonable prices. Not the cheapest dim sum in the area but the price paid for the portion size is reasonable. We ordered 4 dishes between the 2 of us and still had leftovers. My favourite was the beef brisket dish as the brisket was tender and the rice noodle was firm but soft and chewy inside. The sauce was thick and made the dish come together as a whole. The har gow, beef balls, and spareribs were big, juicy, and full of flavour. No complaints there. We had great service and tea was strong which is great to have for any dim sum meal 👌
Good food. Good service. Fair price. Adequate parking. Recommended.
More often than not this has great tasting food and it has some great managers who will treat you like family if you're a regular. Even for first timers the staff are welcoming and friendly. Tables can be a tad tight to squeeze into during peak hours and the lazy susans could use some lubricant. Highlight dishes are the specialty glass noodles (lunch time only) and the Peking duck.
Great dim sum, lots of people on the weekend, is better to go before 10 to get spots, parking is not the best. There are a bunch of junk yard cars parked in the parking lot taking up spaces.
Best place for dim sum with many choices and good value (when you go early, you get discount on weekdays). When you go for dinner, you can get the special free crispy chicken for free after ordering over $100. We love the Peking duck dishes and the tender beef short ribs in wooden bucket for dinner. Favorite place for us to go dim sum or dinner any day. PS: BEST vegetarian "roast pork"!!! (Nov 2018)
Excelent dim-sum restaurant!!! Service was perfect and very friendly. Huge variety of dishes and very affordable. We had chicken, fish, meat balls, a lot of vegetables, spring rolls, and many more!!! Very satisfying and exotic delicious flavours!!!
Good and no line up dimsum
No Complimentary Soup or Dessert
Amazing selections of dim sum and super delicious! Affordable and fast service, which compensated for the long wait for tables (they get so busy!). Will be back in a heart beat!
Great value, very fast service. Pretty tasty too.
Went on Monday morning. It was a challenge to get the table. Food is good, service is good . They're really busy, so try to get there since they opened.Monday-Friday order before 11am get 10%offWhich is nice;)
This place didn't even deserve a star, Host was so rude, find him to be the most disgusting person who should not be in this type of business!!! Wouldn't seat us just ignored us as he let ppl pass us grabbed other ppl and said the three tables that were empty are reservations! I demanded to see that and nope no reservations,,,,bye never ever again. dim sum is always better somewhere else!! Dont go there, find a better service as they suck
Great dimsum option. Generous portions, great taste.
The last time I dined here I found a big bug in my food. I showed the waiter and he just took it back to the kitchen. Never returned since.
